Gong Chen

Gong Chen received his BS degree from Nanjing University in China in 1998. He then pursued his Ph.D. degree in Organic Chemistry with Prof. Dalibor Sames at Columbia University, graduating in 2004. After completing his postdoctoral training at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center with Prof. Samuel Danishefsky, he began his independent academic career as an assistant professor in the chemistry department of The Pennsylvania State University in the US in 2008. He was later promoted to associate professor with tenure in 2014. In 2015, he joined Nankai University in China where he currently serves as a professor of chemistry at the State Key Laboratory of Elemento-Organic Chemistry. His research interests include developing new synthetic methodologies and their applications in synthetic and biological studies of complex carbohydrates and peptides. He has been an associate editor for Organic Letters since 2022.
